The Structure and American Racism: Setting a Course for Lasting Injustice



Racism has permeated the workings of the U.S. Structure since ratification. On the 1787 Constitutional Conference, supporters of slavery ensured it was protected by rule of regulation. The federal authorities upheld slavery till it was abolished by the Civil Struggle; then supported the South’s Jim Crow energy construction. From Reconstruction by means of the Civil Rights Period till right now, veneration of the Structure has not prevented lynching, segregation, voter intimidation or police brutality towards individuals of coloration. The Electoral Faculty–a Constitutional lodging for slaveholding aristocrats who feared in style government–has twice in 20 years given the presidency to the candidate who misplaced the favored vote.
